Yes those supercharged M113 engines are a work of art.

My Opinion

My 1996 SL500 has 172,000 miles on it. I have owned it for 12 years and had bought it with 105k on the clock. Not many problems but I just had to change the crumbling engine wire harness. It had to be the last offof the biodegradable ones. I had to buy it about from a salvage yard in Germany for about $900 US dollars after tax and shipping! Ouch! I installed it myself.

Bought my '90 500SL a few months ago with 399,360km (250k miles) indicated... with a broken odo so who knows the true mileage.

1990 500SL. 228500 miles. (has had extensive mechanical restoration; most of it was done before I purchased it last September)

My 1996 SL500 is a "hibernator" with 175,000 km.
A lease return bought in Vancouver in 2015.
A "few" issues I fixed myself since. front bumper, loose mirror,
all fluids, hood pad, power steering seals, cam oilers and rails right side.
Conductor plate and leaking plug, new MB radiator.
Some thing of interest, the AC rubber hose left side was touching the Block,
got cooked and sprayed refrigerant all over.
But I do anything for LOVE.
