MB 1991 500SL OEM wheels or not? I thought these were 1995 SL500 wheels or later? Clear this up for me?

I found this reference ... which seems to confirm

https://r129.co/wheels-tyres/mercede...-w140-r129-sl/

I looked for original rim by year - could not find that.

Those wheels were introduced to the U.S. market in MY1996. I believe they continued through MY1998.

Those are SL wheels and I believe the bobterry has the years correct. They absolutely were not available for a 1991 SL, (thank god, 3 years production is 4 years too many).

Wheels style is a personal thing I realize, but those style wheels to me are tied for the ugliest wheels Mercedes ever designed.

The other ugly Mercedes wheel is the 10 spoke early W210 wheels, I think the same designer must have done them both..

Anyway I'll attach some pics to show, also attach a pic showing what the stock wheels looked like. That wheel your asking about (I think) was optional.

Here is a great link to see what all Mercedes wheels looked like by model

https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/me...ss_r129_alloys

The 16" 15 Hole wheel in the 2nd group was the stock OEM wheel in 91, if being true oem by year is what you want, and the 8 Hole next to it was the new stock wheel starting in 94 (I think)

Either one of the 15 Hole or 8 Hole are far better looking than the Monkar...

PS: go to this link, scroll through to a video of the 1990 new SL, it shows the wheels that came stock, enjoy
