SL/R129: Replaced Starter, Grinding Sound

Replaced Starter, Grinding Sound
I had the starter replaced on my SL 500 this morning, and now its developed this slight grinding sound on startup. Almost like the starter keeps cranking slightly too long after the engine turns over. The noise was not present before the previous starter failed. Any ideas as to what the cause could be, or how to remedy it? Other than that brief sound, the car starts and runs as expected, no issues.
Thanks in advance.

If they failed to remove the shims (7-8 as seen in attachment) off the old starter and put them on the new one, you will have this issue. Take it back to the mechanic and make them prove the shims are on the new starter.
