SL/R129: Headlight level sensor issue

1998 SL500
Question Headlight level sensor issue
Does anyone know where I can buy a Headlight level sensor connection rod for my 98 SL500 ? The little plastic ball joint end cups have disintegrated and the dealer says that i cannot buy the rod on its own I have to buy a new Sensor unit $225.00 but
The sensor is fine I just need the rod. I see the same rod online but the ends are not the same, mine has plastic cups and just pop on but the ones I see connect with nut and bolt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
