SL/R129: R129 Wiring Harness

R129 Wiring Harness
I have read different things about the "biodegradable" wiring harness for the early iterations of the 500 SL. Does anyone know for certain whether it is only the 1993 model has that harness or if the same problem exists in the 1990-1992 version.
Thanks in advance,
Tony

I don't think anyone has seen a claim by MB-USA as to wish ones do and don't.
Although I haven't seen anything on the 1990 model year. If you have a 91-96 best to check it to make sure.

My experience is that wiring harness issues come from age. I have owned non bio harness MB's that developed some issues. fuse block corrosion as an example. also can be said for most older vehicles from MG, Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls, Chevy, Cord, Continental etc.
If its old stuff happens!
With all that said, I own and currently drive a 94 SL600 that had the insulation on the wiring harness crumble off the wires.
In 1998, at 4 years and 26K miles that process was in full break down for the 600. Benz danced around the issue with minor repair but not a full acknowledgement of the problem.
Other manufactures also used the harness materials that breakdown from heat and flexing. Volvo and Saab are two that I have personal experience with but got much better support from the dealer.
When the back information search was complete some 1993 and 1994 models were given the "bio harness". So the answer, No the 1990-1992 R 129 MB does not have that wiring harness.
