SL/R129: 1997 SL600 at the track
Some info on the car:
Completely stock with standard tire pressure all around.
Soft top was up (hard top is in storage).
Spare was still in the trunk.
A lot of misc. junk in the car, including some car parts, don't know the details.
Traction control was left on.
The results:
The first run was not spectacular, just near expected result of low 14's. Run was with an Audi A6 with "$10k in mods." This was my brother's first ever run.
The second run shows some promising numbers and dips below 14 secs. Run was with an 89 Honda Civic Hatch.
The third run shows an, in my opinion, astounding time for this car. A race time of 13.623 is quite quick for this heavy car. Run was with a turbo Eclipse.
The final run was a coincidental "rematch" with the Audi (but still no victory). With a time of 13.698, it seems that the SL600 is capable of running sub 14's after all!
I noticed that people have been asking about the quarter-mile times for the SL600, I myself being one of the curious. Now that question can finally be answered on this forum.
Put those two on a top speed track and the A6 would get dusted.
