1995 SL600 Harness Swap ?

I bought a 1995 SL600 yesterday and got blessed with a ASR fault / limp mode on the 400 mile drive home. I suspect the biodegradable wiring to be the problem as the previous owner replaced the throttle bodies a few months ago.

Can I source the harnesses from a later year (I.e. 1998) SL600 and plug into mine?

My understanding is that Mercedes didn’t use biodegradable wiring in their harnesses after 96.

Worth noting: the ASR light came on first. I kept driving. Turned the car off and on, it would come back after a couple miles. After doing that about three times, the check engine light came on along with the SRS light. I pulled over disconnected the battery for 30mins. And did this whole process over about three more times.

Side note ~
it was about 2am, and I needed a way to get back to northern California (home) from southern California (where I bought the car).

No tow trucks were available. So I limped all the way home. What normally would take about 3 hours 45mins ended up being about 6 hours.

I just learned that it is not possible because MB changed from Bosch LH to ME engine and fuel management.

Exactly, 98 comes with new ME engine management independent 12 coils etc controlled by the ME module, erlier models comes with LH and 2 coils only, distributor, caps, rotors etc different setup at all
