What does the reverse side of the badge look like, and was any mounting hardware (nuts, screws) included? Maybe the dealer SA has suggestions for mounting, should you want to pursue that option.

Yes there is some hardware ... would need a back plate. What ? - plastic grills on a Mercedes? SL grills are made of titanium.
