Pictures of my SL.

Here are some photos of my 1991 500SL.

Before mod:

After Mods:

Well here's a picture of my SL interior before i started modifying:

As you can see the interior was getting a bit tired so i decided to spruce things up:

And i decided to get the panoramic roof colour co-ordinated ( was originally beige colour inside). The interior handles have been ordered from Germany so another 2 weeks for delivery.

Just got round to uprating my sound system as well.
I upgraded the headunit to an ALPINE navigation unit with a 6cd unit, MB Quartz 3 way reference line speakers, JL audio 2 ch amplifier, Rockford Fosgate 1000w amp and a Rockford Fosgate Power DVC sub.

Well took a full day wiring everything and creating a false wall to mount the amps on. Tiring but definately worht the hassle. Nothing like doing a job yourself.

So what do you reckon??

The car with your mods looks absolutly great.

What I can detect from the pictures:
Exterior - newer model tail lights, paint on lower body panel to match upper, new rims.

Interior - Wood steering wheel, new shift knob, leather upolsty on seats and door panels, new color for panorama roof.

Did you buy a used panorama roof from a different coulr car? Thus needing to paint the interior roof trim and the exterior color?

You will really enjoy the panorama roof in the fall and winter rain and snow.

Would the three spoke steering wheel (with wood) from the 1996 + models have been compatalbe?

Also i have the Carlsson kit fitted on the exterior. Since the photos i have a remus exhaust fitted.
The panoramic roof was originally dark blue with beige interior so i had to have a colour change.
I like the old design steering to be honest, and i got it cheap! The new one does fit.
The panoramic roof is unbeleivable. The car feels so much roomier and lighter! Am a very very happy man!

Great mid-life makeover for the car!

Maybe I'm being dim, but is that ths sub woofer in the boot? Does it have the desired effect there?

I fitted a new amp to mine last year and new door speakers so I know how much you had to take apart to do all this, and then some.

Total cost including new stereo, paintwork, alloys, exhaust, retrimming? You cannot have change from £10k... Gosh!

The bill: £800 for the wheels (sold the AMG ones for £1000), £500 for the trim (helps to know the owner of a major trim company, £500 for the paint (my best mate owns the local bodyshop, Carlsson body styling £FREE , £300 for the exhaust, Navigation unit included with car when i bought it, Rest of system out of my cousins written off Merc so £free. So in total its no where what it should have cost!!
And the best bit i got the car cheap so i'm laughing all the way!

The sub sounds very good in the boot. The thing with a car like this is that you need a powerful sub and an even more powerful amp. Its more than enough! I had a massive Audiobahn sub 1st but it was too powerful so i settled for a Rockford. System sounds perfect now!

Hey 94r129: You posted on a thread that is almost three years old.

Perhaps start a new thread if you are looking for a pano roof.
