2001 SL500 722.624 transmission

I need to know if sonnax #68942-23K TCC Damper Valve Kit will fit in my transmission before I drop my car off for the tranny overhaul tomorrow. The sonnax site says “late” 722.6 but doesn’t specify any years.

I called and they said I’d have to verify with my mechanic and I guess open the valve body to find out ( ridiculous bs if you ask me)

I already bought the kit along with the overlap control valve sleeve kit #68942-05K but wanted to verify things before install.

BTW, I see you are in Riverside CA. Where do you go for transmission rebuild ? thanks.

every shop I called in riverside corona and other areas gave me disappointing responses.

wasn’t planning on a rebuild but just a valve body refresh with the sonnax kits. Doing it myself after riverside transmission center manger refused to help me and they don’t allow customer supplied major parts. The manager there is kinda an ******* thinks his gang of guys who work on mostly gm crap boxes know more than MAVA the Mercedes Tranny expert.

TCC damper valve kit does NOT fit any r129 and the regulation spring will need replacement even on 2000+ r129s

Even MAVA couldn't provide a little insight?

yeah I spoke with him last week. he’s the one that informed me that TCC damper kit doesn’t fit and that sonnax made a mistake with the regulation spring replacement fitment. They say 1999 older, mava says it’s any 722.6 with 4321 at the D gear.

my game plan is conductor plate, overlap sleeves, regulation spring, new pilot bushing (though only 5 months old) then a reset of the tranny with star
