1992 500SL 5500 RPM cut
Hey guys, I've just found out a weird problem with my 500SL. It's a 1992 euro car, still uses plug wires and caps. It is still before the bad wiring harness and ETA problems. The issue is, when I am at WOT the car cut's off at about 5500 rpm. In any other situation the engine is smooth as silk, and very responsive. This happen in either manual shift mode or auto, so gearbox is fine.
The car has 25.000 km and just did a major service with:
Engine oil and filters
Gearbox oil and filters
Diff oil
Spark plugs
Rotors and Caps
Fuel filter
Air filter
Crank Position Sensor (car once died while running for 30 min in Park)
Before I changed the caps and rotors, the car run only to about 5000rpm. Now it's about 5500. Other thing is, if i put it in "2" or "3" in the gearbox, right at about 3500rpm, it's like almost "VTEC kicked in" and the engine pulls much, much harder.
Also, I just read the codes and the number of blinks were 9, 12 and 2 for pin 14. Pin 8 gave me 17 blinks.
Anyone has any ideia of what might cause this?
Thanks

Did you ever hear anything? European models all had RPM limiters. Some were in the fuel pump module on the firewall, some had spring-loaded distributor rotors. These engines did have recommended RPM limits.

More new information. I was checking the MAS module and found this weird wire:
Is this red wire right in here? It connects from the OVP to the MAS relay!
Thanks
