Replacement shifter gaiter/cover?
Hello all --
I recently bought an '02 SL500. When it arrived I found a number of issues that required attention. I've started ordering small parts but I'm struggling to figure out this one in particular.
(sorry if the pic is too huge!)
The little articulated gaiter thing that rolls back and forth as the shifter moves is, as you can see, broken. I tried to identify a standalone part but nothing obvious came up. I saw various complete shift lever assemblies on eBay but if I can just replace this little piece that would be my preference.
What are the magic keywords to describe this part? My searches here were apparently wrong as I've not yet found anything.
Many thanks!

Have you taken it apart to find out why it bunches up? It may not be broken, just off track.
When trying to purchase a replacement power steering dipstick for my SL600, I had to order the reservoir to get it.
See if there is a part number on the slider, but don't count on being able to order just the item that's broken.

Thanks, no I haven’t taken it apart yet, researching the how to is on my list. But you’re right, if I’m lucky I can fix it with existing parts. Fingers crossed.
Alternately once I get it out I may find a separate part number hidden on it!
