SL/R129: Rear accumulators? Help diagnosing sound from rear SL600
I have a 1997 SL600 that has a really stiff ride. I figured it was the accumulators, so I ordered two of part number: 1403280515
Is this the correct part number? In other places I found: 1293200115
I have not changed them yet, but today I noticed a new sound coming from the rear right side of the car. Anyone have any idea what this might be? A punctured hose perhaps?

You will want to do both front accumulators at the same time and both rear together, but as step 2.
Get a few liters of the suspension fluid before beginning and a wide flat disposable aluminum cooking tray from Walmart for $2.
I don't know what that sound is, but anything that makes that much noise should be easy to locate while you roll under the car. Could be anything from the fuel pump, to one of the suspension fluid controllers. Please let us know when you identify the component.
Do a search on my site ID (mahunt) for a detailed R/R of the accumulators. There are a bunch of steps to follow, but the maintenance isn't really all that difficult. More messy and anything, which is what the flat tray is for.
The car's suspension will be wonderful after the upkeep.

The dealership I purchased the car from is letting me use their lift for a couple hours this Sunday evening to replace the rears. I do not think I will have the time to do the fronts. 😢. From what I gather, they are more difficult and require tools that I might not have access to while I am there.
I thought the rears needed more disassembly that the fronts.
Just about everything in the trunk needs to come out and I used flare nut wrenches to ensure against rounding the VERY difficult to replace fittings.
Any insight into the noise from the rear?
Once everything is done, frequently raise and lower the suspension to get rid of air in the system.
