Comments appreciated. I don't drive a lot of miles in a year (3000) and won't be driving at all much longer (4 - 5 years) due to health issues. This would be my only car, plus wife's SUV. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-benz-sl600-8/
Beware of shill buyers on BaT. For example, the current highest bidder has many auction "wins", lots of posts and a small number of listings, yet has only been a user/member for less than two years.

You're right... buyer always beware. And, my comments only relate to my experience in spending time viewing exclusively Mercedes.
However, I have found BAT to vet their sellers pretty well and the site is loaded with some very well-respected dealers who have sold hundreds of cars through the site. If one slips through, they get found out very quickly through the serious buyers/bidders and peanut gallery alike.
My view on 'georgepahanick' is he is - as you said - very active on BAT and has not been a member long. But, he seems legit with relatively deep pockets and a love for most things auto with a heavy lean towards Mercedes. Everyone seems to accept and respect him as a commenter and buyer.
My 'relationship' with BAT is simply an enthusiast and long-time lurker. I actually registered earlier this year to bid on an R500 to replace an aging Ford Expedition and an R107 to round out a trifecta of SL's - an addition to a R129 (SL500) and R230 (SL55).
BAT is a source of entertainment and a vast resource of knowledge if you can wade through the comments of the peanut gallery and serial commenters with their sometimes fatiguing questions and vanity bids. Requests for tire date codes, key fobs, VIN tags on body panels, cold start/driving videos - questions and requests from 'members' - who by looking at their history - have no intention of bidding.
Again - yes, buyer beware. But, it is interesting to see some of the low mileage 40-year-old garage queens that always seem to surface on the site.
As to the car... I wish I had more experience with the V12's. I contemplated them before settling on my SL55. This car, however, looks to be very nice!
Lots of purists on the Mercedes side of BAT - the reason for all the hate regarding the wheels. I think they look fine. This will probable affect the final selling price - if it sells. I see it's actually on consignment - although, with a seller with over 270 BAT listings.
Like specific maintenance issues to that particular V12.
I got my V12 17 years ago because I'm a mechanic and wanted a challenge over the cars I was used to working on. Based on my experience with the M120, I couldn't imagine the even more complex issues engendered by going to the turbo M275 V12 engine. My hat's off to you.
I own both the R129 and R230 V12. Every car and every engine has its typical weak points. The M120 is completely straightforward, the M275 takes even more time for some maintenance and much deeper pockets. Nothing is more expensive than a cheap Mercedes, two left hands and ten thumbs.
The car looks beautiful in the pictures, amazing that they are all out of focus. The car is lowered and stresses the ABC, and even here parts need to be replaced. The fluid bearings of the tension rods are leaking and need new ones, for example. And the wheels... Don't be alarmed by the fact that the two ignition coils cost around 2000 USD each and that the engine has to be removed to change the engine mounts. Something like that happens, but not every day.

I was trying to determine how much I needed to spend to get a set of correct wheels and tires, before I joined the bidding. But, the bidding exceeded my comfort zone pretty quickly. I'd be OK with mid 40s for a 15 year old car,
