M120 1992 cam chain cover removal

Looks like i have one of the common oil leaks on 1992 sl600 50k mile from cam covers.
on every video i watch they removed valve covers first.
as i already renew upper manifolds seals, can i open front cam covers with magnets for reseal only by removing fan clutch and radiator?
Or must first remove manifold/ harnesses/ valve covers?
