Newbie - Vacuum Line Question

Hi,

Super excited to be a new entrant to R129 ownership.
I purchased this 2000 500SL this week as a long term ownership project. I've been seeking a quirky color SL for ages. & here is it is.
This forum is so awesome & I've done loads a searches & reading.
Curious if anyone knows the answer to this? Any help appreciated :-)
  1. Under the hood the Green vacuum line connector has broken.
    • Anyone know what that line & the unit does?
    • Looks like maybe 2 lines at the bottom of the unit have become detached. I can only see the 1 green line.
  2. I can't find the vacuum line connecters anywhere.
    • This is the closest part number I could find 2028000253.
  3. There is a cable in the same area of the engine bay, but I can't for the life of me see if it is supposed to plug into something,

It's for the AC management. i assume your AC vents are not working properly?

Maybe someone can supply a diagram of those lines. No idea why it would be cut you may have to remove some covers to get to the other piece if so I would splice it other wise follow to the end point, Gotta take a lot apart so pictures and keep track of all the parts. Next time it's a lot easer.

hey, you did very well in getting a Designo Slate Blue R129... I have its big brother, a SL600 in the same color.

here's a step by step on how to remove all the parts to get down to the vacuum lines ... the endless pics may help you out a ton

Designo Slate Blue is quite rare and was only offered model year 2000+ (when sales of R129 were lagging) to try and juice the numbers a bit. They offered another Designo edition in Black with black/red interior.

Bill Gates was famously reported to have owned the SL500 in this color.

If I had to guess, there are maybe a few dozen SL500s in Designo Slate Blue and perhaps fewer than 10 SL600s.

Good luck with the repair and enjoy her in good health!

I wonder... is one of these your car?

In the BaT listing, a commenter mentioned that only 129 R129s came in that interior color combo. I'd hazard a guess that 100 were SL500 and 29 were SL600.

Hi,
Neither of those. It was so random. My mechanics customer wanted to sell it here on Oahu. So it worked out really well.
It needs some stuff :-) I'm just prioritizing for a long term of ownership. around 87k miles.
