R129 Roof Hydraulic Fluid
I've owned my 1991 300SL for 25 years and never had much problem with the convertible roof (replaced the control unit twice though) and it works well now (I have to give a small tug down onto the front windshield when it reaches that stage but that is hardly a problem).
I've NEVER changed the hydraulic fluid (nor seals) but bought said fluid from MB upon reading this forum's recommendations.
My concern before going ahead relates to fixing things that aren't broken . . . recommendations???

Use nothing but the ZHM fluid from MB. It has no odor or coloring that would stain your interior.
25 years is a LONG time for no power top cylinder issues. You've checked all (11 or is it 12 on the early cars) the cylinders for seepage?
Go to the Top Hydraulics site and watch/read their 129 documentation and then you will know what you want to do.
