SL/R129: performance mods for sl500 99
Perhaps there are some known "tuners" for MB SL's, that others may know about. I would like to know myself for my '92 500SL.

Their home page under the Cars & Tuning - Earlier Models icon gets you to this:

There are other tuners like Brabus and Kleeman that other forum members will likely provide information on.
I would still like to hear personal recommendations of what gets the best performance bang for the buck. Some of the mods are quite expensive in my opinion.

Does the '99 have a true dual exhaust with 1 pipe on each side running all the way back from the front behind the cats (1 or 2 cats)??
If this be the case, a good exhaust shop could fabricate a stainless steel system with mufflers in say 2 3/4 or 3 inch, from the cats back. This would be substantially less costly than something from MB, and would greatly free up the exhaust. You must maintain the O2 sensors; you probably have then front and back on the '99.
AND for sure replace the air filters (I did on my '92 500SL) with lifetime K&N or S&B (my choice - I used these). They require cleaning and oiling periodically.
Later,
