r129 engine questions

Pls correct me if I'm wrong I was looking online about the m103 vs m104 engines and it sounds like the m103 is better for low end torque, the m104 being better in the higher rpms. I looked and it said for the r129 models the m103 was only in the 300sl in the years before 93 I believe. So my question is, is it a dumb idea going with the m103 because my goal is to turbo it and have a quick r129. Pls let me know if it would be a better idea to get the v8 sl500 version and upgrade that, it just seems to me that for an engine that can hold a lot of boost and power the m103 seems really good. Another question I have is I have seen so many 800hp+ old Mercedes that have the m104 or m103 engines but I have never seen someone do major upgrades on a r129 is there a reason for that do people just like to keep them stock because they are old and cool just wondering.

Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?
A "ur mom" joke? Wow.

I don't think I've seen one 800+ HP "old Mercedes"...can you share some links or info to the cars that you are referring to?
