SL/R129: Seeking Silver Arrow Owners
I’m the current owner of a 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL600 Silver Arrow, VIN WDBFA76F62F202626, and I’m reaching out to fellow owners and enthusiasts for help.
This car has a well-documented history. It was originally purchased in June 2001 from Mercedes-Benz of Stevens Creek in San Jose, California, and spent its first two years in the San Jose Bay Area before it was repossessed. The second owner, who resided in Carmel, California, kept the car for just over four years. In 2008, it was acquired by a third owner in Michigan, who owned it for nearly 16 years until his widow sold it to me in 2024.
From 2018 to 2024, the car was in barn storage. It now lives in Southern California, where I’ve been slowly restoring and maintaining it over the past year. The car retains all of its original Silver Arrow features, badging, wheels, black interior, panoramic roof, but unfortunately, the commemorative Silver Arrow briefcase and its contents are missing.
After contacting both the second and third owners, I’ve confirmed that neither of them received the briefcase. I suspect it was lost or discarded during or shortly after the repossession, possibly at the end of the original owner’s brief two-year ownership.
I’m hoping to recreate or replace the original briefcase contents. If you:
- Own one of the rare SL600 or SL500 Silver Arrows
- Have high-resolution scans or photos of the plaque, certificate of authenticity, owner’s manual, pen, or other briefcase contents
- Know where I can purchase an original briefcase or find accurate reproduction items
Thank you in advance,
