Sigma
There is another variant that attaches to the glass which the car manufacturer are supposed to use. I'm pretty sure it is called the sigma. Here is a link:

That's not the new antenna
That's the OLD antenna, which he got painted by a third-party vendor called Colormatch. Then he installed it backwards by mistake. Quote: "It is the same antenna just installed backwards." Julien321 (click the link).
There is a new antenna coming from MB, as reported elsewhere on this board. Has anyone seen it?

New Sirius Antenna
Just came from the New York Auto show. They had an E-Class on the floor with the new Sirius Antenna. Its much, much smaller and painted to match the body color. I refused to put the black blob on my 2004 S-Class, but I wouldn't have a problem having the dealer installing this one. It really looks very clean. I would say it looks better than any of the aftermarket installs I have seen where the wire is exposed.

Saw and drove the new 2006 ML yesterday. Sirius comes directly from the factory now...only....with the antenna built into the car. Can't see or tell that the car has sat radio or not.
Hopefully this will continue to the other cars and we won't be dealing with those fugly anntenna any more.

Antenna looks awful in the middle of the trunk lid and I have to say I'm not taken with the SLK in red - may be the close use of a wideangle lens has distorted the perspective but it looks to me like a woman with a large butt...

sorry...saw the ML not the SL; but the antenna on the ML for sat was not visible at all...it's built into the body of the car.

After delaying for a year I recently got tired of waiting and had the standard (ugly) antenna installed. The commercial-free music makes it seem worthwhile, although I wish the SL’s speakers sounded better.
