SL/R230: NEW TREND - Let's Post Some Positives!
I am sorry and I promise you I am not trying to be difficult here but please, let people have their opinions, especially when they are justified.
I was NOT being an apologist for MB, and I was NOT saying that you and others on this forum do not have valid complaints, you certainly do. But I didn't agree with ChrisB's conclusion that the reason for the high ratio of negative to positive posts on this forum was because "people have difficulty expressing their positive feelings in writing." I simply offered my observation that on this forum - as on every other forum I have been on over the years - the high proportion of negative to positive posts is a result of frustration and anger being more highy motivating emotions than satisfaction and happiness are.
When I said "Note - I am obviously NOT referring to those of you experiencing significant problems" I was thinking specifically of you, LovinSL600, and lorinserbenz and others who have had to deal with inexcusable incompetence on the part of MB. And I do not doubt MB has earned their low reliability and customer satisfaction scores, but I don't think the tone on this or any other forum is because people have difficulty expressing their positive feelings in writing. People are understandably more motivated to post when they are frustrated than when they are contented.
Peace,
Prolix

People post the passing negative ... not the underlying positive.
Remember that for every bad experience someone has they will tell a min of eight people. For every good experience the tell only one....
That explains the number of negative postings on here.

EXACTLY...you sure your not in sales.

My wife got bumped by a bus in the SL and it's been in since friday in the bodyshop and just got back today
Meanwhile my wife and I have been taking turns using the s55 and an S320CDI Loaner ,I don't think you get this in the states it's an S class with a diesel engine, not a bad car , but boy makes you love what you've got.
Here's a short vid, the S320 not too slow, but listen to the gruff noise, mind you it does 35mpg pottering around and 27 mpg pushing it

S320 Diesel acceleration
The SL500 is just an awesome package, 90% as good an out and out sports car as a 911 carrera, importantly it's alos far easier to exploit it's performance than the porsches and it's 150% more comfortable and practical.
The SL, sexy, practical, safe and great with worthless women :v what a combination
Even LovingSL600 had a lot of positives to say at one time, until the day.
