SL/R230: How old are the SL drivers here?
Would you believe SEVENTY SIX !!!
But... had my first MB W198 (GW) when I was 22 and several SLs (and Porsches) since...Used to race a TD, 120M, and a SIATA 208Swith a Ferrari 2.0 Mondial engine YEARS AGO... Remember its not the 'old dog" in the fight ..Its the fight in the "OLD dog" !
Cheers,

Got my first one, a used 1972 350SL, Signal Red with Bamboo interior when I was 27. Boy, was it gorgeous! My first new one was a 1979, same colors. Got it at W.I. Simonson in Santa Monica, sticker price was $32,200.00 and the salesman's name was Henry Heil. How I remember that, I just don't know. I've had a total of 7 SL's over the years. They have always been second cars. Currently have a 2018 on order, but am going round and around with MB, trying to get them to paint it Mars Red. What can I say? I like RED SL's!
Calendar says I'm, 72. But ...
my wife still thinks I'm a 26-year old Navy lieutenant. Or maybe she just wishes that. I prefer wife's thinking over some stupid calendar.

I'm amazed at all the old guys here. I'm in my 50's, but I have some health issues (arthritis and nerve issues), so I am really wondering how much longer I can drive the SL. One concern is that it's just hard to get in and out of, especially in tight parking spaces. Another is my ability to work on the thing. I have the skills, but sometimes my aching body doesn't want to cooperate. I'll keep going with it as long as I can, I guess.
