Ordered an 06 SL600 - Would you add anything?

I ordered an 06 SL600 with the following, would anyone add anything else to the car?

Black, though black is a challenge, I really like the way it looks especially when it’s clean. I again went with the stone interior, which since I have a little jack Russell terrier who really sheds a lot, black interior is out of the question for me right now. As far as options I again went with the sport package, I was told they changed the rims with the package and that they will look like what is on the E55, sort of a shame, I actually like the look of the ones from last year. Keyless go is now standard along with the tire pressure monitoring system. I added distronic and also parktronic which I didn’t get on my last one. I wish the parktronic actually detected curbs, but from what people have posted online, curbs are typically to low for it. I also added the voice command which was standard but is now an option and finally the cornering fog lamps as a why not selection.

If anyone knows of anything else that would be nice to add on, please let me know.

Get Sirius installed at the dealer with the hidden antenna. Did you get the phone?

I was thinking of doing exactly that, letting the dealer install it with the hidden antenna, I'm not sure if they will do it or not though, I will need to check into it. With the voice option, the phone is still sold seperately, I am going to take the phone from my 05 and plug it in. If I understand this right thats all I need to do.

What is the reason you are going to move from your 05 to an 06 of the same color. Isn't it going to be a 35k loss for the same car? Any confirmed body changes?

Why Not!

It will be brand new and I will have some more options I didn't have before.

Just curious but what kind of trade-in value are they giving you?

Not discussed

I haven't discussed a trade in value with the dealer. I am not sure if I am going to trade it in or just sell it by myself. What do you think I would be able to do either way trading or selling.

You will lose either way, but at least you dont have the hassle of selling it if you trade it. Plus you dont have to pay as much sales tax...

Have your dealer call the Nashville dealer. They sell the mini trek kit that has the antenna and everything that connects the antenna to the Sirius receiver. In the kit there is a metal plate that is glued with some special adhesive to the plastic and metal plate. The mini trek has a magnet and will stick to the plate. I think the original antenna will fit. There is a lot of room there.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info on the antenna, I will definately look into that. It surprises me that with all the engineering in this vehicle they didn't come up with a better factory solution to the current antenna.

Looks like you got everything in the new SL. I would suggest burl walnut wood and wood steering wheel if you haven't got it already. BW is redish and make the interior warmer than brown popular wood.

With the stone interior you get chestnut wood, and the wood steering wheel is standard. I have the Burl Walnut wood in my s500, personally I like the chestnut wood in the SL600.

Well, I'm sure you're keeping an eye on Lovin's SL600 sale which finishes soon. Have to say I wouldn't derive much interest from the same car just a model year on. Perhaps the 0-110 test has worn the old one out...

I like to variety of trying different cars from different manufacturers, but each to his own.

I have the pano roof on my SL55 that is black as well. I really enjoy it since it does make the ****pit more open when the roof is up. On a black car it is almost undetectable from outside but rellly is quite nice from the inside.

Thanks for the offer, I am probably going to give it to my dad. He is retired now and would love to drive that around.

I considered the roof on my 05 purchase, but a lot of people voiced negatives about the inside shade for the roof.

I find most people on e-Bay that are doing the bidding are trying to steal cars. On Sunday an ad goes into the two major newpapers around here and we will see what happens.

Also got a couple of call from people not bothering to do the auction and so far have as much as $120,000 which is not good enough.

I'll keep everyone posted.

You may be right but I figured I could always go back to that guy. That may be a stupid assumption but nevertheless I passed. I have two huge ads going in the two major papers starting Sunday. That is how I sold my last car.

Someone came today and loved the color and everything but hard to tell if he was real.

Figured I'd give it a few weeks, see what happens and then jump ship if I have to.

Thanks for the advise. Maybe I should have taken the $120,000. Time will tell.

I'm amazed you let these people come to your house! There's alot of shady people out there who might want to case your house/situation. You can't assume that they actually have the resources. I get nervous having workers at the house that I don't know. Maybe I'm too paranoid.

That is why I just do the trade in. One of my friends a long time ago let someone do a test drive and wreck the car. In my state you pay about 9.25% tax on a car purchase, so it is better for me just to trade the car in.

I just cant stand the phone calls and price bickering.. I know you get hosed on trades, but when you consider the tax savings and hassle factor trading isnt so bad...
Lovin, your car is worth what you are asking.. afterall you have every option .. but the market is sooo soft right now.. I hope you get 135k so it helps all the Sl's resale values..

9.25%...holy cow!!! We pay 7.00% in P.A. and we also only pay tax on the balance. I think in C.A. they have to pay tax on the entire purchase price, so they don't benefit like you and I do. In P.A. we only have rear license plates and our registration is only $36.00 a year... SHHH... don't tell anyone!!

We pay tax on the balance after the trade in and discounts, but 9.25% tax is a lot. The tags in TN is about $102 bucks every year. But we do not have a state income tax, so I was able to write off some of the $9,000 tax on my car on the tax return.

So does anyone know of a good certified Rolex dealer in a tax free state?
