I work with the guy who bought Lovin's ex love. I haven't driven it yet but had a chance to ride in it and take a long look at it. While I think I'm still more interested in an SL 55, I love that X11 interior. It will be tough buying anything used now as I think the all black X11 interior is the only way to go on an SL55. Seems like it would be difficult to locate many used rides with that interior. Maybe if they offered stone in the 55 but since they don't....it's X11 for me.

The Aegean blue also impressed me. Much better in person than in pictures.

The dealer I am working with was trying to get me to get an SL65 instead of an SL600, my problem was that I wanted a stone interior. I have a Jack Russell with a lot of white hair and he sheds, black interior would not be to good with that hair. The dealer said they can request one to be built with a stone interior. You may want to check that out for the 55. No guarantees, but it is worth a look into.

Yesterday I ordered the new 2006 Jaguar Super V8 Portfolio. There will be 150 brought in the USA for 2006. Performance is 0-60 in 5 seconds. For a car this size it is fast.

Heard that one before... Jag has been trying to get their act together for years.. They make beautiful cars that are unreliable.
I dont know whats worse, the car being unreliable or the fact they have one of the WORST depriciation rates. Jaguar has a stigma that they just cant shake... Any automaker that trys to change how there brandname is pronouced is flat out retarded (aka JAG-EEE-WARRR).. oops.. forgot FORD owns Jaguar. This explains a lot...

I wondering, I am I the wrong forums? Its getting really old hearing about Aston Martins, and Jaguars... If thats what you own, GOOD for you.. GO to those brands forums!!

Funny, I have had three Jaguars in the last 7 years and if you put together all the problems I had with all three of them they would not equal the amount of problems I have had with any one Mercedes I have owned in that same period of time.

As far as Jaguar corportate is concerned, I don't know as I have never had a problem or issue requiring me to even think about calling them. Now 10-15 years ago that may have been different but not in it's latest generation of cars. If Jaguar has any problems it relates to its lack of changing it's styling.

Also, a few complained about bashing Mercedes and that I could certainly understand. I don't see any of that going on...so what is the problem?

I wouldn't think some additional knowledge would be a problem for people unless they like to remain uniformed and rest their brain cells.

Besides there may be others that are thinking about other cars and even keeping their Mercedes and they too might like to become more informed.

Bottom line, you need to take a "chill pill".

The new XJ is "not" a Ford......doesn't use a Ford chassis and doesn't use a Ford engine. The XJ350 is just as much of a Ford, as Mercedes Benz are Chryslers.

The S-Type is not a Ford either, Ford happened to have borrowed the S-Types frame to use in the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird.

The X-Type is basically a Ford Mondeo and I admit is not a good car.

All future new Jags will "not" be based on any Ford.

I would post reliability charts on the XJ, but costs $ to get them.

If you don't want to read about Aston Martins, don't click on the threads that have to do with them......problem solved.

One of my colleagues has an XK8 cab. Her husband, at about the same time, bought an R230. Guess who had all the mechanical problems (including water in the trunk?) She still has her car. He traded his in for an SLK55.

Jaguar used to have a bad reputation for reliability but nothing like the stench of the current generation SL.

Guarantee, the main issues are with the X-Type.

There is nothing wrong with the new XJ, its a great car. The reviews are good and the forums report little drama. Those JD Powers surveys are not out of the ordinary, they show that the car overall is very good. I don't know how any new MB owner could call the new XJ a pos, when its MB that is redefining the word "unreliable."

Doesn't mean I don't like MB, matter of fact I favor them over BMW at this point.
