I'm a girl and I think women who judge men by their cars are really shallow.

Girlie image...

First of all I am not even considering the SLR - that is and will always remain to be completely outside my price range. What others have considered is that the SLK - despite the new nose - has not quite shaken off it's girlie imagine and the SL remains the macho choice. Again this wasn't my opinion it was what i have guaged from a variety of comments of others. I was just interested in what people thought that's all

Ah, I got that you weren't even considering an SLR, but I must have misread you that you thought the SLR looked girlie - THAT I would not agree with

This has been interesting to see what people think. I think the new body style SLK doesn't look girlie at all, but that the previous style SLK might have more (still I don't consider it girlie though). I do think overall the SL seems like a more "manly" car.

While you don't know me from a hole in the wall, I can assure you that the "swooning james bond status" had absolutely nothing to do with my decision. After all, I am taken for life and look nowhere.

Now talk to me 20 years ago when I couldn't have afforded it, then it would have come in handy.

Why not a second hand Aston...?

Hey Lovinsl600 I wondered you are buying a new Aston...did you not consider a second hand one? I was looking at Astons and they do seem to have some nice second hand one - least that way you would avoid the first year hit depreciation? Would you advise against this?

That’s your opinion. But that is no reason for bad taste. The new SLK interior looks like the after market kits that the kids put on their Hondas.

I own a SLK320 and love it and I got my wife a SL500.

Interior of the new SLK

I agree the interior of the new SLK did look very tacky for such a supposedly advanced car.

Um the F1 reference is too the nose, and to compare the interior to a honda with cheesy fake sparcos shows shows your ignorance. If you happen across a kiddo that has real sport racing seats let me give you the price of some of the seats. For ONE leather ultralight custom seat its an easy 1500.00 and that doesnt include custom brackets, mounts roll cages harness mounts etc.
Oh and if you had a slight clue you would know that the kiddos want a carbon fiber stripped look.
Wanna boy racer look take a look at an EVO. Till then keep ripping the "newer" version of your car. LOL

You are entitled to your opinion...

You are entitled to you opinion. The seats may be expensive but they do not suit everyone. To me they seem a bit too hard. I prefer a more plush, softer seat.

well mocking someone that spent over 5000 dollars on seat and calling it fake and trashy kinda makes me think you are the one with the trashy interior.

I love you badge buyers. Just like you to go buy your wife an SL then call the car a Guys car, while you call the car you drive, an SLK a chick car.

"pot you are black" says the kettle

I didn't understand your last comment as I don't have a wife. I would never buy my g/f a car more expensive than the one i drove!

I'm not sure he was referring to you. If he ever learns how to use the quote button, his posts may make a bit more sense.

I purchase my wife a SL, but I never stated that the SLK was a girl’s car and never said that the SL was a guy’s car.
