The band of power available over the rev range is lower, though, but with a 7-speed box you'd never notice.
BTW, American visitors just filled one of our NZ diesel vehicles with petrol (gas) . . they just didn't believe the engine could be that smooth and be diesel!
Thats something you will have to learn to think about when America goes over...

SL400CDI? i think i'd buy one if i can afford it. but the queue for diesel here in sunny M'sia is really long especially with those huge long distance lorries jockeying for position, and the current diesel shortage. these are the two reasons it'll probably never sell well, at least in many Asian countries. no one will EVER believe it if i drive a sexy little SL over to the diesel pumps!
