Another wasted option

I was playing around with the menu on my 004 SL500 and discovered the digital speedometer. But If I want to use my digital speedometer, I could not see the radio station in the instrument cluster or change the radio station through the steering wheel.

I had to choose between using the digital speedometer or the radio in my instrument display. I just have to say that Mercedes makes great cars, but their engineers are lacking in user desires and wants in terms of user interaction devices like instrument clusters and other stuff.

What a waste of an digital speedometer option, because I would like to have the radio and digital speedometer booth seen in my instrument cluster at the same time.

Do you want your MB to also make coffee?

How many cars offer a digital speedometer in the first place along with the standard one?

Tigger...

I normally don't use the digital speedometer because the analog is fine with me...however on trips when I do want to set an exact speed for cruise...I use it. Then I switch back to whatever other setting I have the dash on...usually the outside temp rather than the radio since the Command has such an easy to read screen.

Cadillac XLR

The digital speed is projected on the windshield.

and to each his own...but that would bug the crap out of me to have the speed projected onto the windshield.

Then again...the XLR has 4 cubic feet of trunk when the top is down...and it's ugly.

Tigger I believe instead of having your temperature displayed you can have your digital speedo instead. Then you can have both your digi speedo and radio control. You will just loose how hot or cold its is out side.....

They do give the digital speedometer on the new SLK.

The XLR is the ugliest convertible ever made, so it doesn't count

(I know other cars have a digital speedometer as well as the standard one, but we're still looking at one car in a hundred...)

this feature is great, ive left the radio and the smaller digital speedo in my dash... for temparature you just hit one button for a quick glance,
the only thing that bothers me is that when im on NAVI i can not change radio stations through the steering wheel controls (same to with the large digital speedo option)

One thing I wish MB had is a live MPG monitor... the computer has all the numbers to compute it, they just don't offer it. Lame. It helps me drive slower

That sucks. I have a 100K car that I can not disply the temp, radio station, and digital speedo at the same time. MB gives that option to the C-Class.

The instrument cluster shows only temp, or radio, or digital speedo, or nav. It does not have a combination of any two.

It would be great if they actually offer HUD on after face lift.

I think the Lexes SC430 is the ugliest of all the convertibles.
