SL/R230: Another wasted option
I had to choose between using the digital speedometer or the radio in my instrument display. I just have to say that Mercedes makes great cars, but their engineers are lacking in user desires and wants in terms of user interaction devices like instrument clusters and other stuff.
What a waste of an digital speedometer option, because I would like to have the radio and digital speedometer booth seen in my instrument cluster at the same time.
I normally don't use the digital speedometer because the analog is fine with me...however on trips when I do want to set an exact speed for cruise...I use it. Then I switch back to whatever other setting I have the dash on...usually the outside temp rather than the radio since the Command has such an easy to read screen.
How many cars offer a digital speedometer in the first place along with the standard one?
The digital speed is projected on the windshield.
Then again...the XLR has 4 cubic feet of trunk when the top is down...and it's ugly.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The XLR is the ugliest convertible ever made, so it doesn't count

(I know other cars have a digital speedometer as well as the standard one, but we're still looking at one car in a hundred...)
this feature is great, ive left the radio and the smaller digital speedo in my dash... for temparature you just hit one button for a quick glance,
the only thing that bothers me is that when im on NAVI i can not change radio stations through the steering wheel controls (same to with the large digital speedo option)
