tire pressure warning at start up
my '03 SL 500 occassionally gives me the tire pressure warning after start up.
At that time, the pressure in the tires were around 32 psi. I added air up to 36 psi in all tires. Did not get the warning again. But.........a couple of months later, I get it again. Pressure was still about 35.5 in all tires. Put in more air up to 40 psi. Warning went away again. What has been your guys experience with this? I shouldn't have to put in 40 psi should I? This makes the ride very rough.

You need to reset the TPM. Once you have inflated the tyres to the correct pressures, select the TPM display and then press the reset button on the cluster and (I think) + on the wheel which will cause the TPM to re-measure the pressures over several miles and then adopt these pressures as "normal". Warnings are then issued based on deviation from these "normal" values.
This is the way TPM can be used with different normal pressures according to speed, load and tyre type.
Check the manual...
