I have a November 02 SL500 (UK) and the windows do not retract when the ignition is swtiched off. I thought they all did and the garage spent hours trying to fix it and then said "some early models didn't have retracting wing mirrors". I guess they must be right but can anyone else with an SL500 of this age or within the preceeding year or so confirm whether they retract automatically or not please?

I do NOT see this option on the 05.

Can some one confirm that.

On an 05 SL, you have the option of folding mirrors when locking.

Hi Scotsman,

Can you tell me where in the menu it has that option. I know for the 05 S Class w220 i see it but i can not find it on my '05 SL R230.

The only option i see is the mirrors for Parking (Option on or Off) This is for the mirror tilting down when u put it in reverse.

I do not have a button to retract the mirrors like my S class and my ML.

I would think if they had that feature it would also have the button for it also.

Just to clarify the Nov 02 SL has the button to retract the mirrors manually, but doesn't appear to have the option of having them retract automatically when the ignition is switched off.

I have several friends with the same model (within months) who do have this operating - so if anyone else can shed some light I'd appreciate it.
