2003 front end Job..
Just had an independant do some stuff on my car and asked him about the clunking noise when I brake..
He said the car's bushing were worn out very badly and the front swaybars, control arms needed to be replaced.. He said that the rotors were also warped in the front although the pads are ok.
He said this would be covered under the warranty and to take it to the dealer.. My questions are these?
1. Is this normal for a 2003 sl500 with 40,000 miles?
2. Should the dealer also replace the rotors under the warranty?
He said something about the suspension taking alot of the stress of stopping the vechile and when the bushings and suspension fails it puts more pressure on the brakes/rotors... i think i got that right..
Just trying to get my ducks in a line before taking it in to mercedes...

Checking the condition of the suspension bushes is a standard part of maintenance because they wear as part of everyday use and replacing them in time is not a big deal - certainly not compared to replacing suspension components. I had to replace the suspension bushes on an old SL600 which is even heavier up front and they do take punishment.
Your car has done alot of miles for its age, have you had it from new. If I was Mercedes, I'd want to be sure that the car had received the correct maintenance from an MB dealer if I was to assume warranty responsibility for this lot - got to be several $k. You better hope your maintenance record passes muster...
