2005 SL brake problems
When I come to a stop, lets say from around 40 mph, before I come to a standstill the brakes lock up maybe around 2 mph ...also ever since I bought it it had a clicking feeling when breaking at low speeds or almost a complete standstill. The car has 500 miles on it. Anyone else seen this?
Also the rims place (bad experience as some of you may remember) I went to shaved down a mm or so from the bolt which sits directly above the front tires before putting on 20's, however this braking problem is happening after the 20's have been removed and the clicking was happening right off the lot....my trans is also jerky as hell and has already been serviced in the first 100 miles....great start huh?
Thanks

Have never heard of this one
I have never heard of this one. Lots of comments/complaints/concerns about the noises coming from the brakes on these cars, but never about locking up. I will be curious to hear what the dealer says about this.

Well right before the standstill.....the brakes just clench and jerk the whole car to a stop....it is not operator error but rather seems like a sensor is off...
I bought the car at night and the secondary battery was immediately bad causing me to not be able to use any comfort options, conv. top...etc..I drove it like that for a few days until they could get me into service....I thought that was also why the trans was so jerky...but it still has issues- car had 12 miles when I bought it.

If you think it is the brakes, do they do it when you're stopping very gradually, with your foot just barely applying pressure? If you think it might not be the brakes, and you've tried the gradual stop and had it jerk, you can test it by stopping the car on an uphill section of road, taking your foot off the brakes and letting gravity stop the car, and see if it still jerks. If it does, its the tranmission that's wonky.

My 2005 SL600 has been in the shop for tranny issues THREE times now. Three different fixes. I now have 500 miles on the last fix, so far, so good.
It does sound like you have a brake issue, probably a sensor, so I'd get it in sooner rather than later, but without driving it, it very well could be a slip/clunk caused by the tranny, as it might when the converter slips prior to locking up at a launch/from a dead stop.

Fixed
I think you need to rattle some cages and get this fixed PROPERLY ASAP. Nothing could be worse then taking deliver of a new car with SERIOUS problems, not just some cosmetic issues. I would not hesitate calling Mercedes Benz of North America and complaining about the situation and requesting a regional representative meet you at the dealership. It has worked for me in the past.

As Craig says, it could be a transmission problem - find an empty road and try taking the car out of drive into neutral before braking. Do you get the same effect? Either way, it's not good, get it fixed.

Worse yet, I would hate to see the sensor glitch kick in for some reason while your going 70mph. I'd have it looked at asap. Try what blue SL mentioned above ^ That could narrow down the problem.
