Photos of our Cats

Here are some photos of our cats underneath the front ones and the rear ones.

The mechanic informed me that on our cars we do not have resonators, just cats.

I see cats and resonators.
I see two cats up front, and then (I think..) they are two resonators further down the line.

Might be four cats and zero resonators, but I strongly doubt that.

BTW: Removing cats will throw up lights as well as ensure that you fail emissions. Removing resonators just increases the exhaust noise (sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing). In both ways performance may increase.

You can get race cats, and then replace the resonators with an x-pipe. The x-pipe (or h-pipe) may make the car sound the same or slightly louder and increase performance. It all depends how well stock setup is versus the aftermarket setup.

2005 SL600 Designo, Graphite Gray, Panorama Roof
The 2004 SL's feature a different style Command system, IIRC. They allow IPod interconnectivity, but do not play DVD MP3's. The 2005 has NO Ipod interconnectivity, even through an AUX jack (which it also does not have), but it does have DVD Navigation and reads DVD Mp3's.

The older SL's (2004 down) have a different suspension, too, if I'm not mistaken.

There are several version SL's (you probably know this, but just in case).

The SL500 has a 302hp V8. Plenty of power for most people.
The SL55 has a 5.4L supercharged V8. Tons of power. Big beautiful brakes.
The SL600 has the 5.5L V12 twin turbo. A tad more power than the SL55, most notably in the torque area. Also big beautiful brakes.
The SL65 has the 6.0L V12 twin turbo. Big power. Big price tag. Speedo goes to something like 200mph and the brakes are stunning and say "AMG."

Some of the options on most of these models include:

Panorama roof (I have it, love the look, it's a tad bit hotter inside, but the sun shade helps)
Suede headliner (forget which models have this availability)
Keyless Go
Parktronic (I have it, love it)
Distronic (if the center grille badge is flat with no cutouts, it has Distronic)..I don't have this, not sure I'd use it)
Nappa leather (must have, in my book...feel the inside of a car with and without, decide for yourself)

AMG package (includes the AMG style bumpers and a couple of other goodies)
Heated/vented seats (also a must have...even has massage feature)
Designo package: Special paint, special wheels, special floormats
Pass on the MB phone, it's overpriced
There's also a sport package, if I recall.

The stereo systems suck in these cars, so be prepared. For upgrades, only one place really has it dialed in locally, www.reusaudio.com be prepared to spend about $3000...money well spent.

Anyway, Kelley Blue Book has this info www.kbb.com and it might be helpful.

Most people opt for the SL55 if they're performance nuts, that's the best value. The SL500 is a great value too, if you don't need the extra bells, whistles and power, go for the SL55 as a minimum.

I don't think anyone that isn't celebrity reach "needs" an SL65.

Hi Ricky,

Actually they are all 4 cats no resonators according to the muffler shop, and yes he was surprised too. As you can see i did not remove the cats just my muffler in the following post.
