It is a bit annoying that so many people whine about quality issues on the R230.

I think it's a bit overrated. I bought an 03 SL55 and had my share of nuissance issues with it, but I had more fun in that car in one day than in any R129 in a year (I owned 3).

Not only are they better, faster and safer in every aspect, they are also better built cars. Why do I say that? Because I certainly had more major mechanical issues with the R129's. Much more dangerous than a squeeky hardtop of faulty seat memory module. Plus it is all covered by warranty, something that wasn't always the case on the old ones.

One thing to keep in mind though; because of complexity of the car, repairs could cost quite a bit more. I for one will not want to have one out of warranty.
Since you live in Greece, I believe you only have a 2 year warranty. See if you can extend that.

My 2 cents...

Don't worry, time will quickly fix that problem

Appreciate your 2 cents, however here in Greece if one buys a used car from an MB dealer, they get 1 year warranty (i believe) - but the price is 12-15% more (abt usd 14,000+) than buying from a non-MB dealer (with no warranty).

Anyhow - first things first - have to sell the R129 first...... But the damn phone is not ringin'.....
