I'll take the 2007 in a different color and more importantly than styling its the equipment/engines/chassis changes that usually make a facelifted version of a Mercedes the best one to buy.

Well an SL55 has to be Black, no question. The "regular" SL550 I like in Capri Blue, White or Everest Green....any color but silver. Everyone has a silver Mercedes.

hard to get a nice discount when there were 2 other buyers on the lot waiting to see if I would buy it. But, I did pay less than $100k on a straight cash sale.

The dealer here in Sarasota has 4 of these, 3 are sold already.
I like the Cognac Brown interior, looks great!
Gas guzzler tax, I noticed on the windshield sticker, mpg was 14/22,
the 2006 SL500 next to it had a mpg of 16/24 with a $1000 gg tax.
Code 415--Panorama Roof is a option @ $1,920.(maybe n/a on 50th?)
The SL550 already has a European delivery (7% off) on the MB website.

I do believe that most targeted taxes are akin to thievery. I drive the SL 3,000-4,000 miles a year, and hardly "guzzle" gasoline. While my neighbor in his HUMMER II pays no guzzler tax at all for his driving "privilege". At least the luxury tax is history!

I am looking at the options and I do not like the bundle format. I want parktronics, but not the ugly distronics. The black circle in the gril does not look good on a pewter car.

Are all options bundled? Does that mean you can't get parktronics as an individual option?

I went over to my dealer's this evening and he had a 50th Edition SL550.
It a gorgeous car. I saw it in a garage and not in daylight. However, I'm not sure I liked all the black wood on the interior and the steering wheel. I loved the wheels in the pictures here, but not as much in person. Actually there are more angles to the rimms than is revealed by the pictures.

Tomd- are you a dealer? I notice your Massachusetts plates but I can't find any new SLs in the Boston area. Chambers and Clair Mercedes both told me next month before they see them.
I saw 2-2007 SLs at the New York auto show this week. No 50th Anniversary Edition there. BTW- your new one is a beauty!

The "M-B Build Your Own" doesn't show the bi-xenons outside of a package, either. I think the cornering lights are now an option- they were standard on my 2006.

No, I'm not a dealer. Just a fanatic MB buyer. My car was the first 07 sold in New England. April 14 at my local dealership; Lewbar Imports in West Springfield. They had only this one, but they do have a SLR in the showroom!! Under $400k!
