Lowered car, now it feels bouncy

I had my car lowered about 1.25 inch and now it feels bouncy when i drive it.

Wanted to know if you guys had experience the same thing.

I am considering raising it back to normal.

Jonny,
Did you have the shop mess with the linkage?

According to him he lowered the sensors and use the star dianogsitcs to lower it.

I have a Kleemann lowering module in my SL and it has two settings, one all the way down maybe an inch or more and the second one in between. When it is lowered all the way down I can feel every bump on the road. The ride is real rough, but it looks good. It works with the star diagnostics, like yours.

Is that what you mean by bouncy?

so basically what you all are saying is when you lower it no matter what system you get it will be a rough ride when lowered.

thanks prsmith777, for clearing that up. that is want i mean by bouncy. the car feels to rough for me.

i am taking it back in tomrow to have the sensors put back at its original location, and have the star dia. lower it 1/2 inch since that is the max it can go.

if after the 1/2 drop with the star dias. and the car still feels to rough i guess i will have to put it back to normal.

I do agree it does looks better when lowered, but this is my daily driver, and not sure if i could deal with it everyday.

I think the lowering module is the only way to go even though its expensive. I can assure you that it is worth it.

I agree. I have lowered my car about 1,25 inch by moving the sensors and the ride gets rough. Especially with 255/35 and 285/30 tires.
But i too love the look so i keep it low when i fell like showing off
But when driving to work I raise it to the first level and get a real smooth ride. And in first level the car is almost at the original height so i feel i get the best of both worlds.

Yeah I forgot to add that I have 19's on mine and that adds a little to the roughness.

You should consider one of the lowering modules out there that can change it from normal to low with a push of the button.

Guys, this is real simple:

No matter what method you use to lower the car, if the car goes too far down, there is no "play" left in the air suspension...you're riding on the bump stops and it will ride like *****.

This applies to WHATEVER method you use.

The trick is to get the car down to a point where you still have some suspension travel and aren't on the bump stops and hopefully, at this point, the car is cosmetically where you want it.

I've not read a consensus on which electronic module works the best and is reliable. The Brabus one has issues for sure and to my knowledge, the most reliable way to lower the car is using the Star diagnostics (which only seems to work on certain models, 2004 and older) or the lowering rods (which is what I have) ..and the car rides fine.

I've been saying this for years ever since I lowered my S class in 2002. No matter which method you choose, whether it's StarD, hardware, or module, you'll get the same results and the same side effects.

If you drop the car too low, the ride gets bouncy. The solution I found was to drive the car in the first raised setting. It got rid of the bounciness. Either that or raise the car.

There is no "superior" method to lowering airmatic/abc cars. It all depends on who you're talking to and what brands they are trying to sell you.
