Build an SL on MBUSA.com
Is it just me or does MBUSA get crappier as time goes on?
I went to build an an SL55, and there were no designo options and the number of options on the car have gone down in the online builder, from the 2006.
Is it possible to order colors available elsewhere like in the German site's build a car .. which btw, is 100x better than the US version.
Lastly -- I'm having a love/hate relationship with the color Diamond Silver. When I see Diamond Silver SLs driving around, they look good. When I see them at the dealer, they look like they are too blue and not enough silver. More of a feminine color. Its driving me nuts.

I agree totally with what you are saying on the Diamond Silver. I have had probably 4-5 MB's in Brilliant Silver. I would never buy Diamond.

Regarding the Diamond Blue, my wife agrees with you that it's feminine color, and the blue is particularly apparent when viewed next to Brilliant Silver or Iridium Silver. Btw, I noticed that even the Brilliant Silver 744 has gotten a shade darker when MB added the "scratch protection" a few years ago.
There is a very sharp view of an 07 SL55 in Designo Mystic White at the www.germancarzone.com , in the SL230 Forum. Unlike the S550, it's available with a more traditional wood (as opposed to black) with the stone interior. It's a very distinctive car with that color.

2004 SL500 Silver Ash
I have been trying to order a 2007 SL600 with designo graphite since early April and no one at MBUSA can tell me when they will add the designo colors back to the option list. I'm surprised, because it should be a very profitable option for Mercedes and they did a lot of PR on designo colors in their early media releases on the "new" 2007 SL. Also, the SL600 on display at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show was in designo graphite advertising the color option. I have placed my order for a pewter SL, however remain disappointed I could not get thecolor I wanted. Calls to MBUSA for information were not successful.

I've already have a white car, so I was thinking Iridium Silver (since Brill Silver isn't avail anymore) or Black .. but everyone and their mom in SoCal has those two colors, so I might go with Mystic White. Diamond Silver is out .. too blue, not enough silver.

actually, the only thing I don't like about the mystic white is the wood .. it looks dull/faded.

I absolutely agree with your thoughts on brilliant silver- it should not have been dropped. I've had four and went for the Diamond Silver with the new SL.
Diamond Silver definitely looks like a woman's car when paired with ash interior- mine is charcoal and I think (hope) it makes it look less like a housewife's car. Yes, it is blueish, but not as common as many of the other colors have become.

Have you posted pics of your car? Do you mind posting pics of your car? I'm interested in seeing it.
