SL500 Gas Mileage

Today I drove from Montreal to Boston, about 325 miles. Averaged 65MPH (with 2 stops) and 25MPG. Good mileage, I thought.

Top up

Top up, no passengers, over 90 outside, air-conditioning cranked.

I have a 500 and I drove a 550 for a day, and I still feel like the 500 gets better mileage.

I had my SL500 for a year. After the first 5,000 miles or so it would get 25mpg on a longer drive, the same as you got. Very impressive for a 4200 pound car with 300+ hp.

I haven't taken my SL600 on a long trip yet, plus it only has about 4400 miles on it now so I expect mileage to get better over the next few months. But so far, just running around here in Orange County, it gets 12-15 mpg depending on how I drive. I saw a little over 22mpg while I was making a 40 mile trip up the freeway a couple of weeks ago. That's not bad!!

Routinely get 22 on hwy trips. 16 around town. SL600. Interestingly, mileage went up 1 both city and hwy after the first service and oil change. Anyone else note this (at 13+K miles now). a year old this weekend.

The 500 probably does get slightly better MPG since it's 80hp less

We just took our SL550 for a weekend getaway and averaged just a tad over 21 MPG for the entire trip (450 miles w-speed of 75-80MPH on Interstate). The car now has almost 600 miles so it is stilla ways from being broken in.

Sl500 / Sl550

I justed sold my SL500 which I had for almost three years. It routinely got 22-23 on the highway and 12-14 for in town trips.

The SL550 which only has 400 miles on it, got 23.5 on a 250 miles highway trip and 13-15 around town.

I am impressed.

At about 800 miles on my SL 550 and driving about a month, I get 14-15 mpg city and once on a 70 mile highway road trip I got 23 mpg.

A little over 900 miles now and our MPG is very similar.

Yeah I am getting only about 15-16 MPG in the city too...I figured it would have been as good as my CL, and I swore I got 18-19 on that. I just got the oil changed today, I'll see it if improves.
