SL/R230: Help for tall driver

i'm 6 3 and have driven my friend's SL quite a few times.... i noticed this, the wheel is too close so i push the seat back... but as it goes back the back itself starts pushing forward.... so if your husband forgoes a somewhat laid back position in return for good legroom... go for it... i personally didn't like it cuz i felt like i'd either be hittin the wheel with my knees or sitting sorta straight up as if i'm at a podium, i mean i feel my head was so close to the visor area... not comfortable plus i looked silly.
i'd say test drive one ... take your time doing so too.

Update: Thanks from tall driver
Just wanted to say that I made an appt at the dealer this past Saturday and hubby test drove a 2003 silver SL500. It was totally fine. So he asks for a black one, and they take us to the new SL550 and he was hooked. They had just gotten in one with the Premium II and AMG sports packages. Needless to say, the drive home stretched from 20 mins to 3 hours. He's been grinning ever since. When he got home, my daughter said "I want to see my car, Daddy."
I just wanted to thank you all for your help. I'm so glad he took a second look at this car. It's gorgeous.
