Taking side grille off fenders

Has anyone taken the side grilles off the fenders in order to perform a thorough wax/detail job on their vehicle?
I loosened the (2) torx screws and attempted to move the grille gently but they didn't budge.

The parts rep at my local dealer couldn't give me any input either.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

My advice to you is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just detail it the best you can with the vents in place--- it will look great when you are done. I don't see the upside in removing the side vents.
