Is Luggage Cover Removable?

In the prep for a long trip in the SL, it would be useful if more luggage could be stored in the trunk. Is the luggage cover removable? Or is this feature available only in the new SL550 series models?

Sgooter,
Yes, the luggage cover is removable in the 2007 SL 550. However, one can not put the top down when the cover is "out." I'm sure you also know that there is a piece of "Mercedes luggage" that fits behind the seat that can also
add storage. You guys have been so helpful to me....just wanted to answer something for you.

Thanks for the info.
Since asking the question, I've learned that it's a nice feature beginning with the 2007 SLs. Maybe I'll check mine out closer this weekend to see if it can still be removed/unbolted. It's removal is really more of a curiosity thing rather than a necessity.
Did you ever get the parking assist mirror issue resolved on your car?
Cheers.

Thanks for asking about the parking assist....no I waited at the dealer for a couple of hours while they tried to add a "program" to the convenience portion on the stearing wheel options. Evidently, a tech had added it to a 600 that was delivered without it. Unfortunately, adding the program didn't work with my 2007 550.
