Quote: sorry to hijack your thread but one last question. Whats the main difference between the sl55 and the sl600. The 600 is more expensive but why? They both run the same 0 to 60 mph time. Whats the difference thats commanding the 10K increase in price?
They run the same time on paper.
On the street it's another story with proper track and tires.

The SL600 is a V12 5.5L, the SL55 is a V8 5.4L.
The V12 is twinturob, the V8 is supercharged.

Both are monsters, but the SL600 is more so... You cannot argue with 590lb-ft torque STOCK. Throw in a RENNtech ECU chip for 5000$ or so, and you're looking at 11 second 1/4mi runs!

Wouldn't you rather keep the 600 for the winter....and then sell it come Spring? That way, you have a convertible in the winter....and I bet you save 10-15k on that 65 once the new model comes out in December.

why not just keep the sl600 and get an old beater benz, like an old 92-94 CL500 for $9k or something..? i still have my old 750il that i barely drive around.. the only reason i have it is incase i drive with more than another friend.. other than that is just sits there... not worth anything, so i'm not losing money in depreciation..

that way if the baby needs a ride, you can just take that out... i could never imagine living in florida, going from a convertible to a hardtop.. i think you will regret it

Why not have your cake and eat it too.
My dad did this to a 1982 380 SEC and now is cutting up a 300C

I have a 10 month old little girl and am having issues with my SL.

Congrats and good luck.

Fatherhood is awsome!!! (even better than a CL65)

I agree with what seattlecarfreak mentioned. I have seen 00-01 S500's selling on eBay from $16k-$24k. These cars would make loading up your child a bit easier than a CL.

I appreciate the advice. I've thought of all these optioned also. I just don't want to own 3 cars if I don't have to. I may be able to sell my car and get a CL65 for not too much of a loss vs buying a whole new / used car and having to insure it. Thanks again.

Hi,
My post has been going down the list a bit too far so I thought I would get it back up.

No buyer as of yet. I have not listed it anywhere but here. Today I will advertise my car on the Autotrader and maybe e-bay.

It may go pretty quick once I advertise so if you want it let me know soon.

Any Mercedes Benz dealership. Go to the parts dept. and just ask for one. If they don't have it in stock then they can order it no problem.
