For Sale: 2005 SL600 Sport with Renntech ECU/TCU
Hi,
After much internal debate, I've decided to sell my SL600. I have not listed it anywhere else yet.
Details:
1.) 2005 Pewter/Charcol SL600 with AMG Sport Package (AMG front and rear bumbers and steering wheel paddle shifters). 8,3xx miles as of today. Warranty start date 3/25/05 and end date 3/24/2009
2.) Roadblock clear bra on front bumper/upper hood and right/left mirrors.
3.) Valugard exterior paint sealant and interior leather protector.
4.) Renntech ECU and TCU upgrade. 625 HP & 745 lb-ft torque!
5.) Rear rotors replaced with cross drilled SL55 rotors.
6.) New chrome 19" AMG replica wheels with new Yokahoma Advan Sport tires (255/35 front and 285/30 rear).
7.) Daily driver, garage kept, and washed regularly.
My car is in excellent condition. Pictures are up under the pictures thread. I can't post any pictures now because the function is deactivated for some reason. Make an offer either here or send me a PM if you wish. Thanks.

I know it's killing me!! I want to get an 05 or 06 CL65. My wife is 8.5 months pregnant with our first baby and I feel it would be a bit more practical to have rear seats. I raced a stock CL65 about a month ago and we were dead even so I at least feel good about that. Thanks for asking.

I agree with you believe me!!! I love the SL600 but I feel that I'm not really going down with a 65. You are right about the winter in South Florida. It is great for convertibles. I rarely used my convertible this summer because it was just too hot!! I don't know if I'm doing the right thing thus my original statement in my first post saying "After much internal debatel....." If I could keep both cars then I would do so but my new kid actually may need to go to college some day and I would like to be able to afford it.
By the way, my wife walked in as I was reading your post and she wants it to be crystal clear that she is not making me get rid of the car. Ok I have satisfied her (pregnant women can be very unstable if you know what I mean ).

I know I am going to get blasted by some on this forum for this but...
I never should have sold my SL600. But then again, I didn't know my brand new shinny Vanquish S would never run properly.
Your reasons are better than mine though. Family is always first. There is time for more cars. Trust me, it is not easy to be responsible. lol

I was the ultimate bachelor at one time so I really hear what you are saying!! The phrase: It's cheaper to keep her comes to my mind often.

Sorry to see that you have to let it go. I would consider buying it, if I could afford another High Class car. Best of luck with you sale / trade in.
If you list what you want from it. You might be able to sale it here on mbworld.com.

I'm sorry to see it go also. I'm starting to have second thoughts! I was offered $100K for the car from a local exotic car dealer in my area. He told me he would try and get a CL65 wholesale and take my car in trade so I can get the tax savings. If I could get $105K privately I would sell it outright. I think that is a fair price for a well optioned low mileage Renntech SL600 in mint condition.

- I so admire the fact that u are concerned about your addition to the family, I wish I could find a worthy women!
- But is the cl the family auto? I am curious what does your wife drive? I do not have kids but maybe its workable with the right second vehicle. I think you are sedated by the 65 monicker. Anyway i hope u make the best decision for u and have no regrets. Paul

It is doing very well and very complicated. All aspects of the project are being worked on and should be ready in about 10 months. It got so complicated I had to hire a professional to put it all together.
Good luck with your decision.

My wife has an Infiniti FX35. There is no question that I could probably keep my car and use the wifes when we need to all go out. I mean I'm only having one kid so it is definitely do-able. I guess just knowing that I have an option to put a child seat in the back and have a second car available makes me feel a little better. Plus I really like the CL65. I mean come on this car is beautiful and just as powerful as mine. Because the 07's are out I'll bet I can get a great deal. Just one year ago these cars were going for $180K - $190K. They just depreciated so hard it makes me a little afraid to buy one now even if it is a good deal.
This is a solid responsible position to take. Do it and don't look back!

Too quiet!! Over the last month I have been investigating what to do with my exhaust to get a nicer sound. If I were to keep the car I would get the Renntech exhaust. I was at Renntech last week and they are testing a new set of mufflers for the 55's and 65's. The look is amazing but I didn't get to hear it. I'll bet it will sound good or they wouldn't release it.

sorry to hijack your thread but one last question. Whats the main difference between the sl55 and the sl600. The 600 is more expensive but why? They both run the same 0 to 60 mph time. Whats the difference thats commanding the 10K increase in price?
