SL/R230: thinking about sl550....

thinking about sl550....
and wondering if the sl550 uses the problematic SBC system. i've read several stories of member that had complete brake failure due to this braking system. even with the backup braking, it was still very difficult to stop the car. can someone verify if the sl550 still uses this? i know the new e's stopped using SBC as it has been very problematic and dangerous.
this can definitely be a deal killer for me as i do not want to deal w/ the fear of losing my brakes.

Well, there are many documented cases of SBC failure.
Anyway .. no idea about the SL550, but I'd imagine the problem has been corrected, if not God help MB.

If Mercedes knew they had a failure issue with the brakes and did not resolve it with customers, not only would the media jump on them, but attorneys would be lining up for some big settlements.

Mine does have the SBC system and the only issue I have so far is the plunger sound it emmits when the brake is depressed.
I have only gotten one MB tech's opinion and he claimed it was normal.
