$50 AMEX CARD from MB
I just got a $50 AMEX card in the mail today for the minor recall work done over 6months ago on the SL....gotta love MB trying to buy customer satisfaction ?

I received the $50 Amex card two days ago. Yes...I expect essentially flawless quality for the near-$100,000 I paid for my 2005 SL500. Yes...the time and effort to get the car to the dealer was worth more than $50. But...I would rather have the car serviced properly. It's not out-of-the-ordinary.

Everyone talks about these blankets and gift cards. All I
recieved after purchasing my SL was some sort of wallet
card holder thing, with a MB card in there, which had the
800 number for towing, and my vin number printed on it.

Maybe they can ID lemons directly as they leave the factory and know who gets a card w/ the # for the tow truck and whose car will break down and need a blanket .. and who will need $50 b/c their SBC might fail

I received one of these things a few months ago for $100... But where can I use it? I think I tried to buy something online and then gas, but it was not accepted...

Got my $50 card too but I kinda feel disappointed that it was only that much. Consider Lexus Giving me a $1000 gift card for putting the wrong weight sticker on my GX470. had to go to lexus for 1 hr to replace the sticker in door jam. The Lexus was only $49k while the Benz was $100k. Makes you think.

Ah okay .. $1k in Lexus services and parts. That explains it. So its really $100 in lost money to Lexus. Still not bad.
The MB $50 AMEX should be an AMEX gift card, which can be used wherever AMEX is accepted for upto $50.

It might not work online because online merchants do AVS (Address Verf. Services) and since its a gift card, it has no address associated with it, it might fail that check.
Gift cards also sometimes dont work at gas stations because gas stations do a pre-auth of over $50 to verify there are enough funds prior to letting you fill up. So with a $50 card, it'll fail.
