Key - what frequency? Is it Radioactive ?
I always wondered on which frequency does keyless systems' key work? If it were emitting a standard frequency signal, the batteries would drain very quickly because, as i understand, the key emits a signal constantly. My only explanations is that the key probably contains a radioactive element in it, which as you understand does not do us any good, especially if we carry a key in our pockets next to other valuable assets. Can anyone shed a little light on this issue?
Thank you.
Thank you.

I think you are living in the land of the fairies.
The card/key only transmits when it receives a signal from the car. You grabbing the door handle starts the car transmitting and listening for the response from the key. When the key receives a signal, it wakes up and starts transmitting back to the car.
Ever noticed how the car unlocks if you are standing next to it and pour a glass of water over the door handle?

it seems that the car unlocks it you just stand near the door, without pouring water at it. Still the question remains - on what frequency does a key operate. Also, what is the expected lifetime of a key battery. Just curious.
P.S. should try that trick with a water bottle.
