SL/R230: M6 Vert opinions

M6 Vert opinions
Well I have been offered a M6 vert @ MSRP..
Whats your guys opinions on the 6er? I know the Bangle styling is highly controversial but the 6 is the least offensive.
I love my SL but I am not fond of the current level of MB's quality and the dealer support. My folks CLS is currently in Lemon Law arbitration.. My car has had several issues that I see but my dealer always comes back with no fault found.
Oh and if anyone is interested Ill sell my car for $72,000.

Check my Sig
I almost pick up an M5 for MSRP, but the 10MPG avg. really turned me off. I can't imagine the M6 to be any different. Also, you can probably get it a little below MSRP if you looked. M5's and 6's are taking a huge hit in resale. My friend is selling his 2month old M5 and OUCH!

Below MSRP on a coupe is possible, no way on a vert.

Dealers are dealers....there is no guarantee that you won't have problems with the BMW dealer either. If you want to sell the car because of the car itself, that's one thing...but if you want to sell it because of dealership problems, that makes no sense. For every person who has a CLS problem...there is a 7 series problem with the same exact story.

I have a bimmer and still a fan on the M series models which I still currently have. I love the engineering work on both Mercedes and BMW. I personally wouldnt give up my SL for a M5 or even a M6. You can say I have the best of both worlds. :p
As stated before dont give up a car due to the dealership because we know they are all retarted and service does suck. Go to another one and use someone else. I have issues with my BMW servicing and no longer use them for *****. Honda, Toyota, BMW, Ferrari, where ever you go you will run into horrible service given fact.
Dont get me wrong M6 is a nice car but do you really want to give up your SL??

SL/M6
I'd rather have a SL65 or SL55, or wait for the more expensive 997 turbo vert. Hell i'd rather have a 997 cab than any 6er. If the M6 cab can already be had at MSRP it will only go down, plus BMW is said to be creating a 100k base SL fighter in the next few years. If that does come out you wont want your M6. My good friend has the 650ci cab and it is OK....even with the M6 though....I would miss the hard top and the SL styling. Its a tough choice bro.
Would you lease?

I prefer to buy... Hate to get stuck in a lease.
Yes it is a tough choice.. I like the fact that the M6 vert is short in #'s, so at least I wont see myself several times a day.
I love MB's styling, hands down they make they best looking cars over BMW.
I have had some issues with my car and am essentially over it.
Bang for the buck the M6 convertible offers more than any other car in its class. If it had a hard top it would be perfect.

The M6 might be short in #'s .. but the 6-series is all over SoCal just like the SLs. I see them everywhere.

SL/M6
Yeah, the M6 is a badass ride and all, however the M6 isnt that much different on the exterior than a normal 6 series. Most non-enthusiansts wont know the difference. Most will check out your fully customized SL over it, but guys like us will gawk over the Monster M6 and the exclusivity of the M badge/V10 monster. A Sl65 is way more appealing to the "in the know" crowd" IMO over the M6. Do you just want and try something new, or do you really feel like the 6 series body fits you?
Today I saw a White SL65 lowered on black rims and limo tint with no plates.....it was SO MEAN....no 6'er could step to that.
Are there any other cars you are considering?

SL65 over the M6? Easy.
The in the know crowd would also respect the 55 more than the M6. The M6....I supposed like the 55....really don't look much different from the 500's and 645's aside from the pipes and other subtle differences. I know a 55/65 when I see one from the tails...pipes.....etc. M6 has the same tails even as the 645/650. A BMW will never be a Mercedes....

The 6 series is just too big. I also like the hardtop of the SL over the soft top of the M6 vert.
But I have had better luck with BMW service on my wife's 3 series. While neither compared to the service I had on my Lexus GS at the local Lexus dealer.
