SL/R230: Sold the SL and got this
My initial impressions of the 6 are good. I love the styling, it is very agressive and beefy looking.
The drive is very different from the SL, in the 6 you feel very connected to the road. The steering is precise and the braking is incredible.
I thought about getting a SL55 but I wanted something different and I am glad that I gave the 6 a chance.
I do believe that the SL is one of the best looking cars on the road. I just have grown tired of the crappy dealer support and certain issues I had with my car.
I am sure when the SL gets a makeover in 09 0r 10 Ill pick one up.
I am selling a bunch of stuff off the SL, Ill post a ad in the classifieds shortly.

Nice ride,
Not a Bmw kinda guy here, but we just saw one 2 nights ago and it look very sharp.
Hope you enjoy it
I never thought Id be a BMW guy until I drove the M6.
Hands down I think MB makes the prettiest cars on the road and I will really miss the SL. I am still young (33) so my need for speed itch needed to be scratched. The first 1200 miles are gonna be rough! Cant take the car over 5500 RPM or over 105MPH.

Is that all you need for the break in? hopefully it will be broke in by next week when we visit you, M6 head to head with SL 600 has fun written all over it.
see you next week..
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I've owned BMW in the recent past (M5, X5, 325xi) and have found them to be unsurpassed in ride and handling. Quality and dealer service are OK but not nearly as good as my local MB or Audi dealers.
Current SL is, IMHO, a design that will stand the test of time as one of the most beautiful roadsters ever made. That, plus the retractable hardtop convertible, trumps the ride, performance and practicality of the M5.
I look forward to testing the new M6 convertible....
Kevin

We started dialing at 11:55 and kept getting busy signals. Then, all of a sudden it rang through. I guess I got lucky because the lady that took my order said there were actually 50 people taking orders so you had to get in on the first round. Phew!
My wifey has an M3 and she loves her car.
So, what do these things go for? The price includes a trip to Munich but I was wondering how much the premium is that I paid?
my car stickered for $114,900.. I have every option.
$139k isnt bad since it has a one of a kind interior, different hood than the regular M6 plus the trip to Germany..
I love my 6, its a very different car than the Sl. One thing that shocked me is the interior is quieter than my SL! The build quality is first rate, and the car is VERY solid. When going over a rough road by my work in the SL, it would make some creaks (top noise) in the 6 there are zero noises.
I know that idrive gets bashed but I actually like it ( I am a tech geek), the bluetooth works great and the stereo sounds great top up or down.
Only thing that I can find fault with is the gas tank.. it only holds 18.5 gallons... with a MPG of 10-14 in the city fillups happen often.
I have been hanging out in the forums at http://www.m5board.com good group of people...

The looks and the ride are fine, but the electronics are terrible. When you start the car and use the wheel mounted station selector it always goes back to the first station on the list regardless where you start. If you activate the I-drive and select entertainment the radio will occasionally switch to AM without any warning.
I have received warnings noting my battery is low (the first week we owned the car) only to find out it was a bug in the system. When they finally received the software to fix the problem the dealer erased all of the electronic settings (pairing of the phone, seat memory, radio stations, etc.) when the new software was installed.
Needless to say I will go back to MB or even the new Acura RL when the lease is up.

The wounds are just still too fresh.
