It is chromed too.
I was told the 50th Anniversary grille is different too, different from the normal 07 one. I know one or two people have that 50th edition SL here, what does the grille look like?

Here is a picture of a standard 07 SL550 grille with the front edge being chromed. The 07 SL55 is blackened.

When you stated that the grilles are chrome are you talking about the whole thing is chrome or just the emblem?

Curious does anyone have the 50th anniversary edition? What does that look like?

Here is a better picture of the grille. We rarely use our car and never drive it in the rain which is probably why it stay cleans.

I saw an 07 SL55 at the dealer yesterday and it had the black grille. Not sure if it was a dealer add-on as I didn't look at the sticker.

Yes, this site has been running pretty slow.

Bought a 07 grille last week. $450.00. Black with chrome trim. Quoted price of 3000.00 for front bumper mounted and painted to match car. Bumper had side vents that look really sharp. Any thoughts?

I believe the side vents only come with the 030 pkg or SL65's. They look sharp in comparison to the stock SL550/55/600 front.

I really like the SL65 side vents on the bumper but would not pay $3000 for it. Thats just me though. But it does look sick!

Hood may be different -
I think i saw something about the hood on the '07's being reshaped to meet some new European pedestrian safety law. That may have required a differently shaped grill.

Highly doubtful.....unless you rigged it in poorly. It was my car that nknauz is trying to get the 07 grille on. It won't fit. The bumper is considerably different where the grille goes into. There is no way it "bolted right up."
