I understand next year starts the change to DST 3 weeks earlier than normal. The clocks in the SL make this change automatically. Will we need to have MB make the change in the computer or can we do that ourselves?

I would not worry about it. I have 4 MB's that my wife and I drive. This past weekend 2 out of the 4 changed the time and I had to do it via the time menu on the other 2. The SL was one of the ones that refused to accept DST ( I can't blame it).
